Cleaner forging

Forging takes a lot of heat and power. We are cutting the carbon in both: our own solar plant is already running, and induction heating is next, to replace coal in the forge.

Done

150 kW rooftop solar

Installed in August 2026. We estimate it generates about 240,000 kWh a year, avoiding roughly 170 tonnes of CO₂ from the grid.

Estimate: 1,600 kWh per kW per year, typical for Rajasthan; grid factor 0.71 kg CO₂ per kWh.

Planned

Induction heating in the forge

We are replacing our coal-fired forging furnace with electric induction heating. That takes about 280 tonnes of coal a year out of our forging, and puts the heat on power partly supplied by our own solar plant.

Based on 1,400 tonnes of steel a year at 200 kg of coal per tonne.

In place

Integrated management system

Our quality, environment and occupational health and safety procedures are documented as one integrated system, built to the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 frameworks.

In place

Waste reduction programme

A written procedure targets the seven wastes, with daily defect and waste reporting, monthly waste audits and management reviews of the results.

In place

Safe workplace

Our safety management is assessed under Tata Steel’s Contractor Safety Management System (CSMS), with documented safety training.

By design

Tools that last

A forged head with a heat-treated edge outlasts a pressed one, so farmers and contractors replace tools less often.
